Overview

The United Nations Foundation links the UN’s work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-UN relations.

 

Shot@Life, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation, educates, connects and empowers Americans to help protect children in developing countries from vaccine-preventable diseases. By joining this movement, Americans can help protect children from some of the world’s deadliest and most debilitating diseases. Shot@Life relies on a robust communications strategy to reach a vast and complex audience including, volunteers, Members of Congress, corporate, organizational and implementing partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support Shot@Life’s communications efforts to meet advocacy, grassroots and fundraising strategies.
  • Assist in drafting campaign content such as toolkits, blogs, and press releases.
  • Assist with maintaining Shot@Life’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
  • Work closely with the Digital Producer to update the Shot@Life website.
  • Assist with media outreach and communications strategy.
  • Assist with events as needed.

Selection Criteria

  • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university with a demonstrated interest in the UN and international development.
  • Interest and/or experience in traditional and digital communications is highly preferred.
  • Competency with digital tools and social media with examples of current and successful experience blogging and posting for an organization on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with a small, fast-paced team and multi-task.
  • Strong consideration given to candidates with basic graphic design skills and who have experience with HTML, Wordpress and Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Full-time candidates preferred.

Benefits & Compensation

The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid full and part-time internships. All internship candidates should be willing to begin in January 2018.
