  • Overview

    The United Nations Foundation links the UN’s work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-UN relations. 


    The Global Events team creates platforms for global change by convening and curating conversations that reflect the mission of the United Nations. We produce over 300 events per year for the purposes of press, education, lobbying and fundraising. 


    • Learn from hands-on experience about all stages of the planning process for large domestic and international events. This includes assisting with designing materials, liaising with vendors and venues, and providing onsite support.
    • Assisting with event communications and coordination and post-event wrap-up.
    • Supporting the Global Events team with internal administrative duties and logistics.
    • Volunteer and staff events.

    Selection Criteria

    • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university with a demonstrated interest in the UN and international development.
    • Strong written and verbal skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task on several projects simultaneously.
    • Self-starting and able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong ability to set priorities, solve problems and be resourceful.
    • Customer service minded.
    • Discreet and comfortable in VIP environments.
    • Ideal candidate will have some events experience or a proven interest in events.
    • Preference will be given to candidates who are able to volunteer and staff events that fall outside of business hours (i.e. breakfasts, receptions, dinners, etc.)
    • Preference will be given to candidates who are available full-time.

    Benefits & Compensation

    The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid semester-long full and part-time internships during the following:

    • Fall: September-December
    • Spring: January-April
    • Summer: June-August
