    The United Nations Foundation links the UN’s work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women’s empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-UN relations.

     

    Nothing But Nets and Shot@Life are two of the grassroots campaigns under the umbrella of Global Health. Together, the campaigns advocate for malaria prevention programs as well as global immunizations and vaccines. This year, the two campaigns are working together to specifically work with building grassroots bases of support and relationships with freshman Members of Congress. The Global Health Advocacy Intern will help these vital campaigns in tackling several goals relating to grassroots advocacy, direct advocacy, and communications.

    Working Relationships

     

    Responsibilities

    • Support grassroots, advocacy, and communications efforts and strategy around the freshman Members.
    • Assist in organizing and building grassroots support and volunteers across the country.
    • Research Congressional Districts and Members of Congress in order to support the efforts of the overall targeted strategy. Examples include census information, programs and organizations, bios and backgrounds, and any other important signifiers specific to the District.
    • Monitor communications and events in district and on the hill as they pertain to Nothing But Nets and Shot@Life.
    • Work with the grassroots, advocacy, and communications teams to monitor and execute District Specific plans and events.
    • Create training materials to assist and train volunteers in Congressional Districts on grassroots organizing, advocacy, and communications.
    • Track information such as events, news stories, social media, meetings, and any other actions from volunteers or Members of Congress that occur.
    • Create reports on activity within Districts as well as on the hill using excel and/or other technical reporting programs.
    • Assist with campaign events.
    • Provide administrative support as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Selection Criteria

    • Must have experience in excel and understand the basics of data management
    • Must have previous grassroots experience related to campaigns, electoral campaigns preferred
    • Must have advanced research and organizational skills
    • Overall, must be curious and willing to learn new skills
    • Experience with another technical, data management program is preferred

    Benefits & Compensation

    The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid semester-long full and part-time internships during the following:

    • Fall: September-December
    • Spring: January-April
    • Summer: June-August
