  • Overview

    The United Nations Foundation links the UN's work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-U.N. relations.


    The Executive Office supports the UN Foundation's President and CEO, Deputy CEO and Chief Strategy Officer. In 2018, the Executive Office is implementing a long-term plan to honor the Foundation's 20th anniversary by reflecting on the importance of the UN and its impact, and by checking the many partners, advocates, employees and donors who contribued to it.


    • Research: Assist with collecting research, including helping conduct and transcribing interviews with former Foundation, development, and UN leaders.
    • Communications: Assist in the development and maintenance of content related to the campaign for a 20th anniversary report and new website, including a Foundation timeline and other illustrative communications.
    • Coordination: Help manage team meetings, attend meetings, take notes and pursue follow-up as need be. Help liase with other relevant efforts including the planning of the Global Leadership Dinner and the Global Dialogue.

    Selection Criteria

    • Candidate must be enrolled in degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university with a demonstrated interest in the UN and international development
    • 30-40 hours per week required
    • Applicants should have excellent oral and written communications skills, and the ability to handle sensitive materials with high discretion and confidentiality.
    • Background knowledge in global development, international affairs, multilateral institutions preferred
    • Interest in communications, fundraising and research preferred
    • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • A self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

    Other Information

    The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid semester-long full and part-time internships during the following:

    • Fall: September-December
    • Spring: January-April
    • Summer: June-August
