  • Overview

    The Better World Campaign (BWC) works to foster a strong, effective relationship between the United States and the United Nations through outreach, communications, and advocacy. We encourage U.S. leadership to work constructively with the UN to enhance the UN’s ability to carry out its invaluable operations around the world. In addition, we engage policymakers, the media, and the American public to increase awareness of and support for the UN.


    Working Relationships

    The BWC Intern will work with the Deputy Director and other team members and learn how BWC educates Congress and the American public on the work of the United Nations.


    • Support BWC by researching the work of the UN and how its activities affect American interests.
    • Compile morning news clips and keep staff informed about stories relevant to BWC’s work.
    • Assist in drafting content for the BWC website and factsheets for Capitol Hill, NGOs, and BWC supporters.
    • Assist the BWC team in preparing for and executing events and activities.
    • Participate in meetings, take notes, and draft memos.
    • Other activities as assigned by the team. 

    Selection Criteria

    • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university with a demonstrated interest in the UN and international development.
    • Candidate is ideally expected to work full-time, though we are able to accommodate students’ schedules as needed.
    • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter – while also contributing to a strong team environment.
    • Fast learner with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Interest in the United Nations, International Affairs, and/or the non-profit sector highly preferred.

    Benefits & Compensation

    The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid semester-long full and part-time internships. The UN Foundation is happy to host interns who are able to receive academic credit or a stipend through their college or university. However, please note that it is not a requirement to intern with us.


    This internship will begin in early September 2018.
