    The Clean Cooking Alliance works with a global network of partners to build an industry that makes clean cooking accessible to families around the world. Established in 2010, the Alliance supports the development, sale, distribution, and consistent use of clean cooking solutions that transform lives by improving health, protecting the environment, creating jobs and income opportunities, and helping consumers save time and money.

    Working Relationships

    The Communications Intern will be an integral member of the Clean Cooking Alliance Communications Team and report to the Communications Manager and the Senior Director of Communications and Partnerships.


    The Intern with provide programmatic and administrative support, including in the following areas:

    • Rebrand: The Alliance recently changed its name and logo to better align with its current approach. The Communications Teams continues to implement this rebrand process. The Intern will support this process by ensuring that Alliance branding and messaging is reflected across different online, social media, and publication platforms.
    • Global Campaign: The Alliance will be launching a global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of clean cooking. The Intern will support operational aspects of this campaign.
    • Social Media: The Intern will support the Alliance’s online presence by drafting content and identify engaging and appropriate photos to share, as well as monitoring social media activity for potential opportunities.
    • Website: The Intern will support website maintenance and accuracy by posting new funding opportunities and events.
    • Operations: The Intern will participate in all relevant communications and other Alliance team meetings.

    Selection Criteria

    • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university. 
    • Demonstrated interest in the UN and international development.
    • Candidate is ideally expected to work full-time, though we can accommodate students’ schedules as needed.
    • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter – while also contributing to a strong team environment.
    • Fast learner with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Interest in the United Nations, International Affairs, and/or the non-profit sector highly preferred.

    Benefits & Compensation

    The Intern is expected to work full-time and on-site at the Clean Cooking Alliance’s office in Washington, DC between January and April 2019.
