    United Nations Foundation Overview:

    The United Nations Foundation links the UN’s work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-UN relations.


    New York Liason Overview: 

    The New York Office is the Foundation’s primary relationship manager with the UN system and diplomatic community in New York. In addition to monitoring, tracking and analyzing the day-to-day activities of the UN, the NY Office works closely to support the leadership of the Secretary-General in the areas of women’s and children’s health, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, strategic communications, and partnership building with the private sector.

    The Partnerships Intern will provide cross-cutting communications, research and events support to the Office – allowing him/her learn about several priority issues of the Foundation.


    • Support key functions of the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC)/Global Health and Business Council for the UN (BCUN) teams, and of the New York office more broadly.
    • Support communication efforts for EWEC/Global Health, BCUN and UNF, and brainstorm ways to reach new audiences via social media.
    • Participate in activities related to above priorities and attend related meetings at the UN, in the office and with partner organisations.
    • Assist with preparation and dissemination of materials including meeting notes and
    • reports.
    • Conduct basic research and assist with preparation of background documents, funding proposals and preparation of collateral for meetings.
    • Assist with preparation, execution, and follow-up of UN Foundation events and meetings including assisting with logistics, invitations and reports.
    • Provide office-wide administrative support to support the day-to-day functioning of the UN Foundation and engage with different teams in the office.

    Selection Criteria

    • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university with a demonstrated interest in the UN and international development. 
    • Candidate is ideally expected to work full-time, though we are able to accommodate students’ schedules as needed.
    • Strong communications (including web and social media), organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter – while also contributing to a strong team environment.
    • Fast learner with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Interest in the United Nations, International Development, Global Health, Sustainability and International Affairs and the role of the private sector in development.

    The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid full and part-time internships.

    The intern should be willing to start no later than January 2019.
